House rules

1. Foyer Beauséjour is intended mainly for young people aged 18 to 35 who are undertaking an apprenticeship or university education. It provides a friendly and welcoming environment that encourages tolerance, dialogue and respect.
2. Rent for the current month must be paid by the last day of the previous month. A security deposit is collected upon registration. It amounts to CHF 500.– or CHF 700.– for students, depending on the room type, and the equivalent of two months’ rent for non-students and studios. This deposit is refunded after the keys have been returned, as part of the final settlement when the resident leaves.
3. Each resident receives keys to their room and the building entrance. Any loss must be reported promptly to management; the cost of replacing lost keys is charged to the resident. Residents are responsible for their personal belongings, which are not insured against theft. Residents are advised not to keep valuables in their rooms. Rooms must be kept tidy and returned in the condition in which they were received. Cleaning equipment can be provided. Bed linen is supplied and washed by the residence. Any damage caused to rooms or shared areas made available to residents will be charged to them and must be reported immediately. Each student must have personal liability insurance to cover any damage they may cause.
4. The residence provides free Wi-Fi for study purposes only and covers broadcasting licence fees. Quiet must be maintained on all floors of the residence from 10 p.m.
5. Cooking and keeping hotplates, microwaves (due to the risk of fire) or additional heaters in rooms is prohibited. A large kitchen and a smaller kitchen are available to residents in the basement. Crockery and utensils are not supplied by the residence. The kitchen must be cleaned and tidied after use. Perishable food must be discarded once its use-by date has passed.
6. Smoking is prohibited throughout the residence. Drugs and illegal substances, including CBD products, are prohibited in the residence. People who use these substances are not admitted to the residence.
7. A prepaid washing machine and dryer, as well as an iron, are available to residents in the basement. Information and magnetic keys are available from the office.
8. Non-residents must leave the building by 10 p.m. Accommodating another person or lending room keys is prohibited, including during holidays. Subject to availability and management approval, another person may be accommodated for a short stay for a modest fee. Please inform management.
9. Everyone is asked to behave appropriately both inside and outside the residence. Management may require the immediate departure of anyone who does not comply with these house rules. The residence is not intended for people who require educational support or who have behavioural difficulties.
10. Management and house staff reserve the right to enter rooms to inspect furniture or deliver bed linen.
11. These house rules may be amended at any time by management.
